DATELINE: New York, NY
Author: Andy
The main book we'll be using is Lonely Planet Western Balkans, which, apparently, we'll have two copies of (Sam and I each bought one). I do, however, have a Serbia travel guide by Bradt that I used last year. It has a chapter on Kosovo, so I thought I would read it tonight since I'm not bringing this book on the trip. My favorite bit (re: Prizren): "The Kaljaja Fortress high above the town has now been cleared of mines and can be visited. To reach it, follow the road that leads uphill from the river to the left of the Sinan Pasa Mosque. This leads up steep, cobbled streets, past ruined houses up to a German KFOR checkpoint beside the razor-wire that surrounds a burnt-out Orthodox church. The soldiers should allow you to continue up the path through the woods to the fortress."
