DATELINE: Tirana, Albania
Author: Andy
Gonna keep this one brief since it's late and at least half our party thinks we're getting up early (it's 2am right now). We spent our day leisurely exploring downtown Tirana, eventually finding a cafe for lunch. Without exception, the food here has been both comically inexpensive and really really good. I've become especially fond of their version of foccacia bread, which is a bit like slices of pita bread with amazing seasonings. The lamb, the veal, and the pasta that I've had as entrees today were all phenomenal. And cheap as hell.
Nick and I just got back from a night on the town. We had dinner at a fancy restaurant in this surreal Disney-esque complex near the main square, we went bowling underneath the restaurant, we had a cocktail each at a fancy lounge full of the "beautiful people", we got half-liter beers at a nearby pub and they let us keep the really nice glasses. All for about $27 each grand total. We were so incredulous that we checked the exchange rate again on Nick's iPhone just to make sure our math was right (it was).
